Microblading is a brow boosting procedure that’s taking the beauty world by storm. So natural and intricate that it’s often described as ‘brow embroidery’, Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup procedure whereby hair like incision strokes are created along the eyebrow to attempt to either enhance, reshape or create a natural looking appearance on the brows. The procedure entails the use of a nanoblade, which is dipped into a pigment that has been matched to natural hair colour and skin tone and is then glided along a sketched outline of the brow that has been drawn on and scrutinized beforehand. Whilst only penetrating into the upper skin, the pigment is deposited simultaneously with the creation of the hair like stroke leaving a feathered outline
Also known by a variety of names such as embroidery, microstroking, feather touch and hair like strokes, microblading eyebrows is a form of semi-permanent makeup that provides a means to partially or fully camouflage missing eyebrow hair with the appearance of simulated hair using fine deposits of cosmetic tattoo pigments. Over time the strokes can blur and fade and will need to be refreshed.
Please note that a minimum of two appointments are necessary to complete the treatment and a patch test is required.

What is Microblading?
Microblading is a manual, semi-permanent technique of hyper-realistic eyebrow drawing in which the shape of eyebrows is calculated according to the facial morphology and golden mean. The technique is intended for anyone over the age of 18 who wants to correct the aesthetic problems of their eyebrows.
It is done using a very fine blade (made up of 18 tiny, fine needles configured into a blade shape) to deposit pigments into the top layers of the skin.
Because we’rave feathered hair-like strokes, regardless of the amount of hair present. Strokes are always drawn in the direction of natural hair growth in order to achieve a hyper-realistic eyebrow look.
The pigments used in this method have been formulated to match your original eyebrow colour and if the eyebrows are still present, blend perfectly into the existing hairs.e impacting colour closer to the top skin surface, the strokes appear and remain crisp and extremely fine.
This method is ideal for anyone wanting to enhance the look of their eyebrows without it looking overly obvious. The results are very natural looking and le
Can anyone have the treatment?
We require all clients to be over 18 at the time of their appointment. Certain medical conditions may restrict or prevent the treatment- such as;
chemotherapy, radiation therapy (but before or after chemo/radiation therapy may be possible)
If you are pregnant or if you are breastfeeding, If you are Diabetic, Has an autoimmune disease, Has Thyroid/graves disease ( medication may cause pigment to not retain properly, please speak to me about this). If you are on blood thinners/heart medications of any sort, Has viral infections and/or diseases or sick (cold/flu) , Is Epileptic, Is on a pacemaker or major heart problems, Has had an Organ transplant, Has skin irritations or Psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, etc.) Is prone to keloid scars, Has had Botox in the past 3 weeks, Has used Accutane in the past year, Has oily skin or large pores (pigment will disappear quickly or look powdered; more touch-ups are required)
If you are under a physician's care, you will need to bring in a release on their prescription note pad stating that it's safe for you to have microblading performed. Your physician will know if you will heal without complications, if you are prone to infections, or have a compromised immune system.
Does it hurt?
The sensation of microblading is said to be similar to tweezing or threading. A topical anesthetic can be used to minimize discomfort. Note that if you are on your menstrual cycle then it could increase your sensitivity to pain.
Will I get an allergic reaction?
A patch test is always carried out at least 48 hours before the procedure. Despite the application of the most advanced and top quality pigments, allergic reaction is possible but rare. The client is informed about this and he/she assumes liability.
Can you use a Sunbed or Sunbathe afterwards?
c
How long will it last?
Although there is no definitive answer because it depends on each individual's skin type and lifestyle, results can last anywhere from 1-2 years. Factors such as density of pigment, environmental factors (UV light, tanning, not using sun protection), and your overall health/physiology (retention of pigment varies with each person) impact how long the procedure will last. If you have very oily skin, are a smoker, and/or iron deficient/anemic, pigment will fade faster. It is very important to follow aftercare instructions carefully for best results. Over time, the pigment will become softer so a color boost treatment is recommended every 6-12 months. The pigment is absorbed differently due to differences in the skin quality, thus there is no warranty for the treatment success.
Will I need a touch up?
Yes. Within 7-10 days from your first treatment, the color will fade significantly and over the next four weeks can continue to fade as much as 40% and also shrink in size by 10-15%. After this period your follow-up appointment is carried out. At your touch up appointment, any changes you would like to make are discussed. Once again you can expect the color to fade, but to a much lesser degree.
How often should I come in to refresh the color?
In order to keep your microblading results looking fresh, we recommend a touch up every 6 months - 12 months
How can I extend the life of my procedure?
Your microbladed eyebrows will last longer if you strictly follow the aftercare procedures.
How long does the procedure take?
This will vary with the type of and sensitivity of the skin. Generally speaking, microblading takes about 3 hours.
Can I resume normal activity, exercising, gardening etc?
Most normal activities can be resumed right away. Heavy exercise should be avoided for 7-14 days for best results—any sweat formed on your brows can fade your healing color. Swimming should be on hold for at least a week, pool chemicals would erode your healing color as well. Outdoors activities such as gardening can be resumed as long as your treatment area remains clean, dry, and out of the sun.
Is there going to be any scabbing?
There can be a little scabbing if your skin is sensitive. DO NOT pick off these scabs; picking scabs may result in a loss of color or minor scarring.
Why do I see color flaking off after a week?
This can happen for a number of reasons, but it usually has to do with skin type. Older skin, more weathered skin, and drier skin may flake color off during the healing process. There should be color underneath, but if not, Nicola will touch it up at your follow up appointment.
Will I be swollen?
During and after the treatment temporary swelling, redness and/or itching may occur. Experience tells me that these symptoms are temporary.
I already have permanent makeup and want to change the shape or color. Can you help?
Yes, changes to your old design can be made however this depends on the color and shape you already have. I will need to see your old pmu before deciding if treatment is possible.
Can it be removed?
Small exfoliations and corrections may be possible but if you want a complete removal you should see a laser specialist.
Are results guaranteed?
Microblading is an art not an exact science therefore healed results varies with each person. NP BROW DESIGN make no guarantees about how your brows will heal and you may need additional sessions for best results (at an additional charge). Various factors affect healed results and Nicola does her best to provide you with the best service with the high quality training she has received. Please read the FAQ's and Before/Aftercare that Nicola gives you at the consultation appointment to determine if microblading is a good fit for you.
NOTE: NP BROW DESIGN does not have control over your body's healing process (healing is specific to each individual) but do expect that some residual swelling is normal for all procedures. The area may appear uneven, dry, itchy, tender, red & irritated. This is all 100% normal. DO NOT PICK. These symptoms will dissipate each day and vary on an individual basis. Color WILL fade/soften anywhere from 40% to 60%. At the touch up faded areas will be fine tuned. It is also important to realize that you will need a color boost every 9-12 months after the touch-up to maintain it's fresh natural appearance. You may need to powder and/or pencil even after the healed results. Remember, this is an enhancement to your natural brows not a permanent one.
We ask that you give at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel your appointment. Booking deposits are non-refundable. Acceptable means of cancelling are by phone or text. Messages left on social media are not an acceptable way to cancel an appointment as these are not checked as regularly.

How long have you been a Makeup Artist?
I have been a Professional Makeup Artist for 21 years. I trained at The London College of Fashion for 2 years studying Design Fashion Styling for Hair & Makeup.
How do I make a booking?
You can contact Nicola via this website. On making initial contact it is helpful if you could let me know the date & time of your wedding or special occasion, how many people will be requiring makeup and also the address of where you will be getting ready on the day. Once I have all this information, I can then send you over a quotation. If you decide to go ahead with the booking I will then send you details of how to secure your date in my diary and make payment.
What happens at the Trial?
Trials normally take place at my house in Maidstone Monday - Friday between 9am and 3pm. I usually allow up to 2 hours for a trial. During this session I ask you to show me any makeup looks that you have found on Pinterest to give me an idea of the look you would like me to create. We also take into account your colour theme, the style of your dress and hairstyle. Once I have created a look that you are happy with I write everything down on a face chart for my files and I also let you know the shade of lipstick I have used so that you are able to purchase it for your wedding day. I recommend having the trial 2-3 months before your wedding day so that the look is still fresh in your mind.
At the end of the session we will discuss timings for the big day incorporating hairstylists and photographer timings too which will ensure everything runs smooth on the day.
What Brands do you use?
I use a range of High end brands including Charlotte Tilbury, MAC, Urban Decay, NARS, Illamasqua, YSL, Dior, IT Cosmetics, Airbase amongst others.
.
How many people can you do on the day?
I am usually on location by 7am on a wedding morning (sometimes earlier) to ensure I get everyone done in time. I usually allow about an hour each and slightly longer for the Bride. If there are more people requiring makeup than time allows, I can arrange to bring an assistant with me at an additional fee.
Would you advise having a spray tan done before the wedding?
It is fine to have a spray tan before the wedding, but I would advise you always have a trial run first to make sure you are happy with the colour and application. You don't want to be dealing with any last minute fake tan disasters on your big day!
What Happens on the wedding morning?
I will arrive around 20 minutes before my first client to get myself setup and ready. I ask that all members of the bridal party are on time and make up free as we are usually running to a pretty tight schedule.
I usually do the Brides's makeup second to last so that it is nice and fresh and there is plenty of time for getting dressed and photos. Once I have checked everybody's makeup at the end of the session and there is nothing else for me to do, I will then pack up and leave you to enjoy the rest of your day.
