Microblading is a brow boosting procedure that’s taking the beauty world by storm. So natural and intricate that it’s often described as ‘brow embroidery’, Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup procedure whereby hair like incision strokes are created along the eyebrow to attempt to either enhance, reshape or create a natural looking appearance on the brows. The procedure entails the use of a nanoblade, which is dipped into a pigment that has been matched to natural hair colour and skin tone and is then glided along a sketched outline of the brow that has been drawn on and scrutinized beforehand. Whilst only penetrating into the upper skin, the pigment is deposited simultaneously with the creation of the hair like stroke leaving a feathered outline. Also known by a variety of names such as embroidery, microstroking, feather touch and hair like strokes, microblading eyebrows is a form of semi-permanent makeup that provides a means to partially or fully camouflage missing eyebrow hair with the appearance of simulated hair using fine deposits of cosmetic tattoo pigments. Over time the strokes can blur and fade and will need to be refreshed. Please note that a minimum of two appointments are necessary to complete the treatment and a patch test is required.
New Clients are required to attend a free consultation and patch test at least 48 hours prior to their appointment, this is to ensure that you are suitable for the treatment.
Microblading is a manual, semi-permanent technique of hyper-realistic eyebrow drawing in which the shape of eyebrows is calculated according to the facial morphology and golden mean. The technique is intended for anyone over the age of 18 who wants to correct the aesthetic problems of their eyebrows. It is done using a very fine blade (made up of 18 tiny, fine needles configured into a blade shape) to deposit pigments into the top layers of the skin. Because we’re impacting colour closer to the top skin surface, the strokes appear and remain crisp and extremely fine. This method is ideal for anyone wanting to enhance the look of their eyebrows without it looking overly obvious. The results are very natural looking and leave feathered hair-like strokes, regardless of the amount of hair present. Strokes are always drawn in the direction of natural hair growth in order to achieve a hyper-realistic eyebrow look. The pigments used in this method have been formulated to match your original eyebrow colour and if the eyebrows are still present, blend perfectly into the existing hairs.
We require all clients to be over 18 at the time of their appointment. Certain medical conditions may restrict or prevent the treatment- such as; chemotherapy, radiation therapy (but before or after chemo/radiation therapy may be possible) If you are pregnant or if you are breastfeeding, If you are Diabetic, Has an autoimmune disease, Has Thyroid/graves disease ( medication may cause pigment to not retain properly, please speak to me about this). If you are on blood thinners/heart medications of any sort, Has viral infections and/or diseases or sick (cold/flu) , Is Epileptic, Is on a pacemaker or major heart problems, Has had an Organ transplant, Has skin irritations or Psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, etc.) Is prone to keloid scars, Has had Botox in the past 3 weeks, Has used Accutane in the past year, Has oily skin or large pores (pigment will disappear quickly or look powdered; more touch-ups are required) If you are under a physician's care, you will need to bring in a release on their prescription note pad stating that it's safe for you to have microblading performed. Your physician will know if you will heal without complications, if you are prone to infections, or have a compromised immune system.
The sensation of microblading is said to be similar to tweezing or threading. Note that if you are on your menstrual cycle then it could increase your sensitivity to pain.
A patch test is always carried out at least 48 hours before the procedure. Despite the application of the most advanced and top quality pigments, allergic reaction is possible but rare. The client is informed about this and he/she assumes liability.
We advise clients to avoid direct sunlight and use of sunbeds for 10-14 days after your initial treatment. After this period, we recommend our clients to use SPF suncream on their brows for protection and to maximise the finished look.
Although there is no definitive answer because it depends on each individual's skin type and lifestyle, results can last anywhere from 1-2 years. Factors such as density of pigment, environmental factors (UV light, tanning, not using sun protection), and your overall health/physiology (retention of pigment varies with each person) impact how long the procedure will last. If you have very oily skin, are a smoker, and/or iron deficient/anemic, pigment will fade faster. It is very important to follow aftercare instructions carefully for best results. Over time, the pigment will become softer so a color boost treatment is recommended every 6-12 months. The pigment is absorbed differently due to differences in the skin quality, thus there is no warranty for the treatment success.
Yes. Within 7-10 days from your first treatment, the color will fade significantly and over the next four weeks can continue to fade as much as 40% and also shrink in size by 10-15%. After this period your follow-up appointment is carried out. At your touch up appointment, any changes you would like to make are discussed. Once again you can expect the color to fade, but to a much lesser degree.
In order to keep your microblading results looking fresh, we recommend a touch up every 6-12 months depending on your skin type.
Your microbladed eyebrows will last longer if you strictly follow the aftercare procedures.
This will vary with the type of and sensitivity of your skin. Generally speaking, Microblading takes around 2.5 hours.
Most normal activities can be resumed right away. Heavy exercise should be avoided for 7-14 days for best results—any sweat formed on your brows can fade your healing color. Swimming should be on hold for at least a week, pool chemicals would erode your healing color as well. Outdoors activities such as gardening can be resumed as long as your treatment area remains clean, dry, and out of the sun.
There can be a little scabbing if your skin is sensitive. DO NOT pick off these scabs; picking scabs may result in a loss of colour or minor scarring.
This can happen for a number of reasons, but it usually has to do with skin type. Older skin, more weathered skin, and drier skin may flake colour off during the healing process. There should be colour underneath, but if not, we will touch it up at your follow up appointment.
During and after the treatment temporary swelling, redness and/or itching may occur. Experience tells me that these symptoms are temporary.
Yes, changes to your old design can be made however this depends on the colour and shape you already have. I will need to see your old pmu before deciding if treatment is possible.
Small exfoliations and corrections may be possible but if you want a complete removal you should see a laser specialist.
Microblading is an art not an exact science therefore healed results varies with each person. NP Aesthetics Clinic make no guarantees about how your brows will heal and you may need additional sessions for best results (at an additional charge). Various factors affect healed results and Nicola does her best to provide you with the best service with the high quality training she has received. Please read the FAQ's and Before/Aftercare that Nicola gives you at the consultation appointment to determine if microblading is a good fit for you. NOTE: NP Aesthetic Clinic does not have control over your body's healing process (healing is specific to each individual) but do expect that some residual swelling is normal for all procedures. The area may appear uneven, dry, itchy, tender, red & irritated. This is all 100% normal. DO NOT PICK. These symptoms will dissipate each day and vary on an individual basis. Color WILL fade/soften anywhere from 40% to 60%. At the touch up faded areas will be fine tuned. It is also important to realize that you will need a color boost every 9-12 months after the touch-up to maintain it's fresh natural appearance. You may need to powder and/or pencil even after the healed results. Remember, this is an enhancement to your natural brows not a permanent one.
